Susannah Baker-Smith

Susannah is an Existential Psychotherapist and accredited member of the UKCP and SEA.

From Susannah:

Psychotherapy offers a place to gather one’s thoughts, to feel more comfortable in ourselves.  It can also be a place of letting go, a place where we might discover new meaning or purpose.

My practice is grounded in the belief that we discover ourselves in relation to others, and in therapy we have the opportunity to experience that with a safe, caring other.  I have travelled widely throughout my life, lived in different communities, and worked creatively. This is reflected in the openness and flexibility I bring to the work. I aim for a collaborative experience and my style is relaxed and conversational.  Together we will work towards greater awareness and understanding of the issues which you choose to bring, explore the possibility of reframing the past, recognising strengths and resources to help contemplate new choices.

I offer individual therapy, short or long term, according to your needs, and we will regularly check in to ensure these needs are being met.

I believe in working ethically, with accountability, and respect for the confidentiality of my clients.

Aside from my private practice I work with a specialist cancer and palliative care unit within the NHS, which includes bereavement counselling.
