Richard is an integrative trained BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist.
From Richard:
I work with my clients referring mainly to an integrative approach, offering a broad set of tools deriving from different theories and schools. It gives me the chance to be flexible and to adapt my work to fit my client’s needs and requests. I believe that each of us has an inner capacity for healing and my role is to shed light on it, supporting you to find and use the resources that you already have within yourself.
Life can be very challenging and many of us can experience distress and confusion in different forms: relational difficulties, sexual and identity issues, loneliness, emptiness, intrusive thoughts and anxiety that seem to have no explanation. My role is to welcome you in your wholeness as a person and to work with you towards understanding your difficulties within context. You can expect me to be present, attentive and available to explore any challenges that you are currently facing with curiosity, integrity, and respect.
Finding the right therapist for you is essential. It can be a daunting task to know what to look for or what to ask. You will need someone you can work with and trust. I can offer a confidential, non-judgemental and open space.
Previous to training as a therapist I had extensive experience working within the education sector with a particular focus on neurodiversity. These experiences have heightened my awareness and sensitivity of the impact of living with a physical or hidden disabilities in a predominantly abelist context.
I have worked for a number of years for a low cost therapy service supporting individuals with a diverse range of issues. Alongside this I also provided therapy to carers in the local community.
I am committed to an ethical practice in agreement with the BACP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. This includes undertaking ongoing professional development through regular consultation with other practitioners, training, and study.
